I'm okay with this. These forums and some areas of Reddit have proven that the comments are equally, if not more likely, to be wrong than articles. I'd like to think that most articles published on something like 'Popular Science' have been vetted and gone through a peer-review process that's more rigorous than somebody on the internet doing some background research. It's unfortunate, but I have no problem with a science based publication disabling comments due to something like this.
