There's one documentary that just got released in NY and LA (debuted at Cannes) that I'm more excited about than probably any other documentary in history. It's called Red Army, and, as the title suggests, is a look into the conditions, history, and geopolitics, that were the famous Soviet Hockey Team. The fact Herzog is the EP makes me even more giddy. It's coming to MI sometime, because they have a poster for it at the art house theater in Royal Oak, but they haven't published a date yet. There's another documentary out there that's related called The Other Dream Team, which is about the Lithuanian basketball team after the fall of the USSR. It's the best sports doc I've ever seen, and among the best docs period. I'm hopeful Red Army can reach that level or beyond, as it combines two of my favorite things, international politics and the Detroit Red Wings.
