Deep down, I still wonder how they do it. I've taken some math classes as part of my engineering program (a fair amount so far, really), and some of the more theoretical disciplines just seem so hard to have a good enough understanding on to actually go and teach them in front of the class. It's one thing to study last year's tests and prepare for the finals, where all you have to do is answer a couple of questions in a known format, but I can't imagine how well you have to know your field to be able to teach in it.
