I feel you on that. My wife actually listens to more punk than I do and even she thinks some of this stuff is a bit out there. That said, a lot of my friends are huge music fans and Folk Punk is a great bridge genre. It allows me to slowly introduce punk to my friends who are more into country, blues, and bluegrass and it allows me to introduce country, blues, and bluegrass to my friends who like punk. It really helps that both Punk and Americana music have a lot in common thematically, as they're both genres mainly by and about the working class.
