    Additionally, mergers and acquisitions look good on a profit'n'loss table right the fuck now whereas infrastructure and research investments won't pay off for years, and that makes shareholders and ratings agencies angry.

I'm sorry if you explained this before and it just hasn't set in, but why is everyone thinking short term with investing and handling money when sometimes a company could do so much better if they hedged their bets and think long term?
