"Universal Basic Income" is just a capitalist way of saying "socialism." Instead of being able to go to the doctor when you're sick, getting food when you need it and having a roof over your head no matter your employment status, we invoke UBI because capitalists don't want handouts, they want subsidies. They're different, trust me. Give it to the technolibertarians and it gets worse because they look at it and presume, with no real basis in economics, that "basic" "income" is pretty much what it costs to get a small apartment and groceries in a hip neighborhood. Which is also hypothetical. But they know that if they got that UBI they could ditch their roommates. _________________________________________ Apple has bought back $43.5 billion of its own stock in the past six months. That's a ridiculous amount of money. It's also a UBI of $20 a month for every man, woman and child in the United States.
