Great! Power to the people. Read the other day that the number of unionized Starbucks stores has gone from zero to over 150 in the past few months.

What I don't undertand, though, is why unionizing is so granular in the US. Over here we have unions for entire branches of labor, so all McDonalds and Starbucks and other retail stores have one collective agreement even if they're ran as franchises. It's written in the law that collective agreements can be made mandatory for all companies operating in a particular sector. I'm assuming that's not the case in the US...?
