Childhood is fleeting, so let’s make sure it’s fun while it lasts.
So true. I'm sure this has happened since the beginning of time but I worry about kids these days with their new fangled technology everywhere. My generation didn't hold cell phones until they were 13 and even then it was those brick nokia phones for a few years. We still didn't go outside, exercise or use our imaginations nearly enough.
One of the things I thank my parents for was refusing to let my brother and I spend too much time on our gameboys or watching TV. We were constantly living on our boat which had an intense "no electronics" policy. Not even a walkman. We spent afternoons drawing and doing big workbooks my mom would buy from Costco. I read 20-30 books during the summer.
I see workmates who's kids consistently facetime and watch TV on their phones and tablets throughout the day. They aren't ever challenged to do nothing or find entertainment outside of a screen. I wonder what kind of impact that will have on them as they get older.
