According to his website, W. Jason Situ began painting in high school during China's Cultural Revolution.

The type of landscapes that Jason paints normally wouldn't capture my interest. But he has a way of expressing light that seems to have caught it just before it was lost. For this reason, "Sunset Colors" and "Malibu Sunset" (http://i.imgur.com/imXbQ.jpg) are more than pretty paintings to me.

I also appreciate the way that he addresses some of the more permanent fixtures, such as stones and trees. It is as if Jason is painting the light, and everything else is supporting material.

In my opinion the grey background of his website is a mistake.
