Some of you may recall that I went on a dating website. Soon after, my soon-to-be-ex husband went on the same website:
I immediately blocked him from looking at my profile and that seemed to work until today. This morning, my update showed that he had once again viewed my profile. Maybe he had paid for extra services that allows you to disturb the people who block you.
Initially I was pissed and complained to the website.
Then I checked my profile. I change it all the time as the impulse strikes me. In my current version, I directly addressed people who might be reading it. Here's my first paragraph:
You haven't had any news from [name of website] for a while, so you decide to scroll through the women that the algorithms have chosen for you. You come across your ex-wife and several other ex-dates. They are labelled a 100% match. You gag a little and begin to wonder whether the algorithms know anything AT ALL.
He wasn't scrolling, he went looking for me. I hope he realizes that I gag every time his picture comes up. But he may not. I'm not sure he really gets me or ever did.
Oh, hubski - as you know - I still can't win for losing (and winning, and losing). Last night someone wrote me who seemed to really get me. He said I was funny. We had a thoughtful silly, spontaneous IM conversation. Luckily he lives 7 or 8 time zones away and I don't have to worry about actually meeting.
