Nels Cline, the preposterously skillful and adaptable guitarist's guitarist, is known mostly for his nasty solos with Wilco. But he's also part of the underground rock and free-jazz scenes, in which he's made challenging and expressive music with countless musicians, including those in The Nels Cline Singers. Cline's short set in the NPR Music offices serves as a rare and intimate master class from a thoughtful musician.

Recently steve posed the question "who have you met that is famous" and I forgot to mention my favorite... Nels Cline. He played a show in Ann Arbor at the Ark. It's a small room, only seats around 300. There were only about 50 people there and after his set I got to talk with him. I don't normally get nervous about such things... but I was with Nels. He was incredibly nice to me and even took a photo with me. Great guy, great musician and it was a great set of music.
