I noticed a lot of articles recently on Microsoft which is like a digital batch of chocolate chip cookies for me ever since I read all of
MiniMsft's posts. They have been pumping so much money into things like Bing, Xbox, and mobile efforts that they've
reported their first quarterly loss ever. But what has that got them? Bing seems to be growing partially off the back of
a declining Yahoo! but it is only at 15.6% market share. They made a
$6.2 billion dollar mistake with their efforts in competing with Google with online advertising. Hell, they might lose another $8 billion for
botching up in Windows 7 SP1 the browser choice screen the EU forced them to include. Xbox (which I own and love) is pretty successful, though all the money put into it doesn't seem to be going to
help developers.
Even internally they're still torturing their own people with the counter-productive stack rankings and stock options which go nowhere. Interesting times ahead for the slow turning ship in Redmond.
