When I check local radar this time of year, I like to zoom wayyyyy out and see if any thunderstorms have something like a hook echo. If anything looks promising, I check this feed, and there's usually always someone live-streaming a tornado chase, if it looks like something could touch down. But the drone thing is great, and marks a new era of tornado observations.
Tomorrow looks pretty ominous for the northeast Texas area (check the "Day 2" outlook), so they might get to fly the drones two days in a row. What a cool job.

And someday I might pull a Ben Franklin and fly a sensor-equipped drone or several up into a thunderstorm to try and figure out what the hell is causing the electric fields that can generate lightning. That sounds like my type of mid-life crisis.
