The day this happens, the market system will have moved us to a fascist state. Not unlike how socialism was supposed to evolve into a communist state.
I'm not so concerned about this startup in particular, but with the fact that this idea is entertain-able, and isn't universally revolting, -like selling babies as food.
wow, why would anyone agree to that?
>I'm not so concerned about this startup in particular, but with the fact that this idea is entertain-able, and isn't universally revolting, -like selling babies as food. Yeah, this should have been laughed out of the place, but the fact that someone thinks it's a good idea is insane.

The insidious argument that is often made, is that it is 'voluntary', so you needn't worry about it. The problem is that there is creep. Once a critical mass is 'volunteering' some major services require that you 'volunteer' or you can't have access to your service.
It's that same faulty logic of, "if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't worry about eavesdropping".

It's not voluntary. It's so pervasive across every major service. Google ties your search identity to all their products. videos you watch, mail you send, etc. The phone carriers install software that logs your keystrokes. Apple tracks your location via GPS to gather data for as of yet unveiled service. Don't even get me started on Facebook.
The point is, technology services are so pervasive, if you really want to opt out and secure your privacy and data, you basically have to become Amish.
