Terrible writing. I assume what he meant is that it doesn't automatically change seismologists' calculus when estimating the odds of an eruption.

I would guess substituting <discovered magma pool> for <discovery> fixes the sentence. But really.

I believe you're correct. I don't know much about volcanoes but I think the shallow chamber he mentioned is the part that is closest to the surface of the volcano. So when it empties we have an eruption. These two additional chambers just mean that the volcano has more magma than previously thought.
