Yeah, that data was pretty much the jist of the story I heard. And the average US wedding is $30K??

I have two daughters and that just isn't going to happen.

$30K is two cheap used cars and a house down payment. That is insane to spend that on a party.

Ever been to a bar/bat mitzvah? I don't think I have been to one that cost less than $50K and some far more. For a kids party. That is insane.

I went to one that was golf themed and they had a couple of rooms set off to the side of the ballroom to look like golf courses. They hired a pro golfer to be in one to give lessons and the other one was a VR golf course. It was tons of fun but really just an ego trip for the parents.

I will sometimes wish I was amoral and maybe a bit malevolent so I could see a scam like these hyper expensive weddings and make bank off them.
