I used to listen to Coldplay a lot. I mean a lot. This is my last.fm, which I only used in '11 and '12: Because I started listening in 2008 the actual play number must be some multiples of that. I know it is not the best band ever (that's the one next to it) and Coldplay sucks and yadda yadda, but the band means a lot to me because it got me through some shitty times in high school. So speaking as a veteran...the new album's not bad. Some highlights for me are Army of One (very neat echo effect), Everglow and the bridge in Amazing Day (classic Coldplay). I like the opening and album title track but I feel like I totally heard that beat before somewhere. Adventure of a Lifetime is still a fun track even though the opening riff sounds like a ringtone. Others are endeavors in different kinds of disappointment. I deleted Hymn for the Weekend pretty much instantly and the one-minute bridge songs are pretty much useless. Up & Up is so happy-go-lucky it annoys me - I think it reminds me too much of christian rock. In total: 7/10 - could be worse. Also this week, a new EP from Chet Faker: and I found this great track, Gone Are The Days by Honne:
