When I was managing a restaurant in Ann Arbor an asian family came in with no reservation on a Friday night. They had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. Then they received the table back by the kitchen. Why? Because they had no reservation and that was the first table to come up when their name was next. It wouldn't have mattered if they were white, green or blue.

After sitting there for a few minutes, obviously annoyed the son, probably 25 years old, requested to talk with me. He said the hostess sat them there because they were asian. I got mad. Really mad. I said," sir there are a lot of people that deal with racism, real racism every day and your false accusation cheapens their claim. You had no reservation. This is where people with no reservation sit." He ended up apologizing and finished his meal with his family.

I hate it when people use race as a tool to gain something. It happens often. Such a complicated thing. I do agree with some of the assertions of this piece. If a republican had made that Biden comment about Obama, it would be damming. It's a crazy world we live in.

But then, nobody cares when a white president brings their dog on vacation with them ;)
