Is it possible that the amount of time Einstein spent thinking about math, physics, and philosophy altered the physical make-up of his brain? Seems like it would make more sense to compare his brain to other mathematicians and scientists (not necessarily prominent ones) and see what differentiated him from them.

Yes, I think this is a very good point. I posted this because I find it fascinating that neuroscientists are doing research on Einstein's brain... but the logic of their conclusions are suspect. The only things I do take away from this is that there is some connection between the density of left-right hemisphere connection and intelligence. This has been suggested previously due to studies of the brains of autistic individuals.
