The purpose of the McRib is to make the McNugget seem normal.
Can that sentence structure be used for a variety of purposes? The purpose of the Tea Party is to make the Democrats seem normal? The purpose of my mayor - the now-infamous Rob Ford -- is to make the rest of mankind seem normal. No - neither of those work, but I'll post this comment anyway.
I think it could, if one were to open up the slot currently holding "normal" for other adjectives. The purpose of buns is to make hotdogs lonely. The purpose of monkeys is to make humans feel well-endowed. The purpose of purpose is to make idleness sweet. I dunno, it seems like a fun thing to play with, personally.
Yes, those formats are fun to play with. And what you've got above could be a poem. The "normal" construct is making my brain hurt as we have to take something that passes for normal and make it seem less normal by comparing it with something even worse that passes for normal. ouch, sore brain. Here's another format to fit words in: Promiscuity is a word used by people who don't like sex to put down those who do. I've used this construct in various contexts -- nothing comes to mind now though.
