Ive lived in this city my entire life in the South Bronx. The subway provides the perfect visualization of how segregated the city actually is. We're talking about literal mass exoduses of very specific kinds of people by certain train stops. I have the pleasure of watching every "yuppie" evacuate by 86th street the latest, 125th if they're a stormstrooper of gentrification on the 456 lines. On the 23 lines they're gone by 96th with the troopers getting off at 110th, 116th, and maybe 125th. I cannot stress how much I am not exaggerating. If you're not well off in this city. You will struggle. This is not a city for culture to grow and people to find their way. It is very much a monument to everything poisonous about the American mentality.
How does one live in the south Bronx? Last time I was there I made up my mind to never go back, for fear of my life.
