That was really interesting. My biggest pet peeve with sports analytics from a non-insider perspective is the lack of freely available, easily obtainable data on the more obscure statistics like fly ball percentage vs ground ball percentage. This is starting to be less true in baseball, but in other sports like hockey or soccer, it is extremely hard to innovate unless you're involved with a team personally.

98 percent sure baseball-reference allows access to those two statistics for free. The only thing it tends to charge for is pitch by pitch data, and some in-depth game log sorting stuff. And even then there are specials and deals and honestly it's pretty damn cheap to begin with.
