“I don’t know about this inequity deal,” he remarked. “I only know that it is not right to take from some and give to people who don’t want to work. There’s too much welfare already.”

That quote from the Wal-Mart COO sums up a lot, especially when viewed the context that the question asked was about treating workers fairly. Is he suggesting that giving his workers higher pay is robbing the freedom of the Waltons? Or is he saying that because there aren't typically educated people manning the checkout lane, that it doesn't count as real work?

This reminds me of Paul Ryan proclaiming both that he is a Christian and that the reason he got into politics was that he was inspired by Ayn Rand, the self professed atheistic anti-Christ. Typical.

It should be: “I only know that it is not right to take from some and give to people who don’t want to work for the wages I am paying."

That's the real issue, and the joke about Howard Roark and his electrician pal Mike Donnigan. If Mike was paid so little that he had to choose between his root canal or a new muffler, he'd probably wouldn't be so inspired by Howard's entrepreneurial spirit. He'd rightfully tell Howard to go fuck himself and unionize.

Soderquist needs to lie to himself. Like you said, there's no other way to marry the unconditional love of Christ and a wage slave model of doing business. I'd love to see Soderquist live for a year on Walmart cashier wages.
