This was a very interesting, and very unique read. Most of these stations are far less professional, and get shut down quite easily. My roommates and I once perused youtube for FCC Pirate Radio Station raids, and you can find quite a lot of videos on the subject. As for Rude FM, I hadn't heard of it before but that was a very romantic read about a Pirate station.

Yeah, it's uniqueness is what grabbed me. The station itself was one of the main breeding grounds for Jungle and Drum & Bass as a whole so is quite culturally significant. I also presume that the author is a lover of the genre and was there when it was all kicking off. That's probably why it came of with, as you said, a romantic tinge.
