That was an interesting read. It is persuasive, but then again, if the universe is truly as varied and vast as it appears to be, then I'd be willing to bet that there are a whole lot of scenarios in which one civilization might contact another, that simply haven't occurred to us. Who could guess at the motivations of a civilization capable of overcoming the proposed obstacles described in the blog you linked? For example, what if it happened by accident? Anyway, my original comment was an easy joke, but the prospect of encountering an alien life form while we are at what feels like the beginning of a technological bloom is a fantasy I like entertaining.
But yeah, I buy that argument. Moreover, I don't think they just achieved interstellar travel. I think, statistically, they're probably millions of years ahead of us. If the Singularity is countable infinity, they're approaching uncountable infinity. Statistically, I think they're out there.my original comment was an easy joke
