Push for the MRI. CT scanners are cash cows for hospitals, that's one reason they are over used.

Also, decline the dental X-ray; another revenue motivated imaging procedure. If you don't have discomfort, why would you need one?

Every time I try to decline the x-ray, the dentist tries to tell me that it's the best way to figure out if I 'need' wisdom teeth surgery.

I'm honestly half-convinced the wisdom teeth removal is a scam too.

I'm not so sure it is. When they grow in from the back they can push your other teeth forward, crowding them out and causing all sorts of other issues.

You're absolutely right. That said, wisdom teeth removal might be the adenoidectomy/tonsilectomy of the present - something that has a real medical indication but is perhaps performed way more than it should be.
