Is the US pushing on string?
Budget cutting won't help the job market. Spending would help the market, but the political winds blow hard against that. The Fed can't go any lower with interest rates, and although officially inflation is low, food, fuel, health care, and education costs are rising.
Wealth in the US has shifted towards the very wealthy and they seem to get what they want. It all looks very dysfunctional.
BTW who the hell is R.A.? Robot author?
"R.A."
I haven't read the Economist for quite a while now but back in day (when I thought it was the shit, youthful folly ;P) I remember noting with approval the distinct lack of bylines in the Economist articles. I guess adding author initials is as far as they wish to go for attribution.
