Came from Reddit, like so many others. I prefer the level of discourse here, and the fact they even when people disagree, they are usually still able to have civil discourse ( there are, of course, shit disturbers everywhere).

I think we need to work to keep the content here high quality and the community here good, and you need people who care to do that. Thankfully, we have those kinds of people here.

Not sure there is a way to avoid "redditization" once you reach a critical mass of users. Some places are better at it, some are worse, but essentially any social aggregator is destined for a similar path once yo reach a certain number of active people.

See this. It all has to do with new users not "following the rules" or traditions of the original users. By that point, people like Kleinbl00 and flagamuffin will be on to the newest thing.

Generally, I've had the same experience. I agree wholeheartedly about civil discourse. I encountered some real monsters on Reddit.

Really? The one time I made a joke about hubski turning into an echo chamber of atheistic superiority I got lynched by a guy who thought I was religious.

like I said, there's shit disturbers and assholes everywhere. The fact that your story surprises me is sort of evidence towards my point. If this were Reddit, I wouldn't be surprised if a large group of people did that to you, but Hubski is different. You can't just shout people down here, you need to back your shit up, especially on serious subjects.

In every joke there is a kernel of truth. Do you feel that Hubski is an "echo chamber of atheistic superiority"? maybe it's because I don't follow any religious hashtags, but i've never seen it.
