I want to stop using it but I cant. I go there everyday a couple times scroll through a couple adverstisements and then close out of the tab. I rarely post anything and I rarely recieve any notifications yet I go there everyday. Anyone else experience this?
Yeah either turn it into a helpful tool or get rid of it because right now it's like the expensive expresso machine you bought for some reason even though you never drink expresso. I turned it into a helpful tool in that it's the easiest way to communicate with my friends in various areas. But I don't need facebook open to use its chat features. So I synched my account up with a desktop app called Flamingo. Bam, Facebook communication without having to open up Facebook. Figure out what you want to use it for and then optimize that use, or just delete it. On that note, kinda wanna make an IM client for my buddies and I to use, but I don't understand IRC at all. :/
Ever-present social contact and escape from a real world that may make you completely miserable for one reason or another, that's why! I don't use Facebook anymore and was never addicted to it (inasmuch as you can be addicted to a non-substance), but that seems to be the reason people who do get addicted to it get addicted to it.
Just created an account some days ago after it became necessary for holding contact with people I worked/talked with. I always receive Emails when someone sends me a message or writes something in a group that I'm in, so I rarely go there. Felt a bit like I sold my soul to the devil when I created the account, though.
Delete it. Seriously. Just Do it. At this point, it's nothing but a habit you've conditioned yourself to do. I deleted my Facebook and still maintain communication with the people I care about...because I actually care about them.
What I do not need is a constant update of whatever daily activities are taking place or satiating my desire to consume some form of new information (the disorder of our time I think.)
