But why get a web-dl when you have physical media? Even in SD resolutions, they often lack in detail, when compared to disc.

Eh, that's often not true. I'm not sure if you've only seen YIFY rips, but there are fantastic HD rips out there. Good encoding makes a lot of difference.

I don't even have a DVD drive to play physical media. I find it unnecessary.

I was referring to "mastered for web" releases, like with Netfilx or iTunes, not Blu-ray rips. Web-DL usually refers to media downloaded from the internet, as opposed to ripped from disc. SD Netflix download < SD encode made from DVD.

You don't need to tell an encoder about encodes :p
