To keep this short and to point, my friend recently incorporated a non-profit to provide dental care to veterans and their families.
The space, equipment, and dentist are all good to go. The remaining issue is money, and nobody wants to donate to a non-profit that is not yet providing services and has no track record.
I am capable, of course, of doing my own research, but I was hoping some of the many smart people of hubski might be able to give me a better starting point into the confusing world of grants; where & how to find & research them. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
As a researcher I've been on teams depending on grant funding, but I've never been a PI so my experience is pretty limited, but what I do know is that you need to be prepared for quite a bit of red tape. Deadlines for action on the part of the grant awarder are more like guidelines. Good scores don't necessarily mean you'll get funded, but they are a good sign. Apply often and be very descriptive!
