This seems like a good place to share one of my favorite reddit comments, a deconstruction of the first verse of Nas' NY State of Mind. There was a second, similar comment about the complex internal rhyme scheme of an Eminem track but I couldn't find it. Rap is generally misunderstood.
Indeed it is, this was the article that really opened my eyes to that. Sure there's plenty of bad rap, but I now see how intelligent you really need to be to put together a really solid rhyme. It allowed me to really put my finger on what made different artist better and worse.
Does anybody know when that rapid triplet-style of rapping first cropped up?
This was a great read. Really makes you appreciate the musical stylings of these artists.
