Chiropractic was founded in 1895 by Daniel David (D. D.) Palmer in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer began teaching the practice to students in 1898 and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2012 there were about 44,400 chiropractors in the U.S. It seems chiropractic spent the majority of its early years surrounded by controversy and criticism from medical doctors, but that has changed in recent decades as there has been more scholarly and research interest taking place.
Kristopher “Marty” Lane is from an East Texas town, and was the valedictorian of our high school class graduating in 1999. From there he attended East Texas Baptist University, seeking a double major in Biology and Chemistry. To help pay for his college, Marty enlisted in the Air Force and served as a medic during Operation Enduring Freedom. After completing his term of enlistment, Marty graduated from East Texas Baptist University in December of 2004. While waiting to be accepted into medical school, he worked as a paramedic, where he enjoyed his work. A year later he was accepted into medical school in San Antonio.
