Oh man, "I wish I was a minority so I could just get into college without trying" is probably my favorite (least favorite?) Diet Racism that I encounter on the regular.

Right, right, that's why colleges and universities are just overflowing with Black kids, right? What's that? They're still majority white? And you're also irritated at the fact that Black kids are "too lazy" to do well in school so they can qualify to get into college? What a world!

Don't forget that racism in higher education doesn't only affect Black people, but all "minorities". For example, some schools have an unwritten cap on how many Asians will be allowed into institutions, essentially claiming that if all students who merited entrance were allowed to go, such institutions might be populated mostly by Asians.

It would be great if students of any race who met or exceeded the standards set by institutions of higher learning would not only be welcomed there, but encouraged or even invited to apply and to attend upon acceptance.

Furthermore, it bothers me that a lot of the racism in America is still seen as mostly a "white vs. black" issue, but in reality a great deal of racism exists between non-Euro ethnicities as well. Classism might be seen as separate from racism, but the two are firm friends and influence society much more than people are willing to admit. "Soft" racism is everywhere, in every class of people and from what I can see, as prevalent as ever.

Said schools will often permit foreign nationals, though, 'cuz they pay full price.

This is how I ended up in a PAC-12 school in a state that cancelled Affirmative Action in a major where English was a minority language. There were more people who spoke Ndebele in some of my classes than spoke English, and there were always more Koreans and Chinese.

Asian Americans? Yeah, there were two. African Americans? None. African Africans? 20% of my graduating class.

And somehow doing this doesn't qualify as unfair special treatment for the under-qualified in their minds, because white people are the most qualified, u guise, just accept it!
