In case you aren't familiar, IFTTT is "if this then that". A lovely platform for automating a ton of things. For example, I have starred emails and "saved for later" feedly articles automatically save to an Evernote notebook. And, when I change my Facebook profile picture, it automatically updates my profile pictures on lesser-used social media sites. And, when I am tagged in a photo on facebook or post a photo to instagram, it automatically saves to my dropbox. And, the best one, when I post a photo to Instagram, it posts it to Twitter but it posts it as a twitter picture, not a lame link to instagram. It's freaking awesome.
Stamplay is a brilliant idea. I haven't played with it so I can't comment on the execution, but it promises to be able to build simple Hacker News / Stackoverflow type sites without having to manage a database. Not that I think this is the best way to do things from a backend perspective, but I'm always down for making backend development more accessible to people.
Some current integrations include:
- Mailchimp lists, Sendgrid, YouTube, Intercom, Pusher.com, Google Spreadsheets, Facebook ads and more. It can help you add one-click signups with Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, GitHub, Google, etc
While I've never trusted anything that's supposed to simplify technical problems, if it keeps people (aka incompetent people (aka me)) away from the backend where everything is hacked together and prone to breaking then I think it's a glorious idea. Stamplay aside, I love IFTTT. I've set it up to notify me of users posting on Tidder and some rss like things for hack a day and a couple other random sites.
