The picture of El Duce reminded me of 1900: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1900_(film) That's a pretty good watch, btw, and definitely an insight into the turn of the century Italian society as it marched towards Fascism.

The second photo is striking; it's weird to see the Japanese flag next to a cultural symbol of China such as the Great Wall.

Yes, indeed. It's difficult to see some of the photos. What Japan has done to Chinese people around WWII is just as awful as what Germany has done to Jewish people, if not worse. But it hasn't raised nearly as much attention as the massacre of Jews. It's outrageous that the Japanese government hasn't issued a formal written apology to China, and some members from the Liberal Democratic Party still denies the existence of "Nanking Massacre", also called "The Rape of Nanking".

Not to mention such sinister enterprises as Unit 731 and other related experiments in chemical warfare. It's looking like such crimes will never be acknowledged.
