- "Writers must oppose systems. It's important to write against power, corporations, the state, and the whole system of consumption and of debilitating entertainments ... I think writers, by nature, must oppose things, oppose whatever power tries to impose on us."

Well, that was my response. Many great writers didn't seem to oppose anything ... but maybe they by default opposed, for example, anti-intellectualism? Maybe writing in and of itself opposes entropy? I am skeptical of people who rail against the state, and who set themselves up as tragic heroes against the whole universe. But I'm still thinking about the quote. Unfortunately a bit rushed at the moment.
