I haven't read the article yet. I did respond to your comment about title length, because I saw that much. This was a busy weekend for me, and haven't read a lot of what was posted over it.
The article and the comments notwithstanding, I think you owe it to me not to be pissed at me. Be pissed at the people that pissed you off, but I don't deserve animosity that arose from that situation. I don't like to be grouped, especially in a disparaging way.
Okay. I'm not pissed at you anymore. I was deeply discouraged, however, that you didn't take it as self-evident that any content I post, I control, forever. We've been around and around on this, and you always come down on the side of the humanity of the poster and his responsibility towards content. I consider it sneaky and dishonest to subtly remove the "delete" button after some amount of time. That tends to indicate that you feel the content is Hubski's, not mine.
If you're going to make users responsible for their content, you need to give users responsibility for their content. Anything else is hypocritical. The fact that a bunch of thoughtless chuckleheads decided to use a post of mine to talk smack about my friends and there was nothing I could do about it because of you did, in fact, piss me off.

Well, if you really want to go to the source, talk to Paul Graham. He's the one that made posts undeletable after two hours. It hadn't been an issue here until yesterday. There's a lot of top-down control I have undone from news.arc, and some artifacts remain. You see I had no problem changing it, because philosophically I think it's the way to go.
