we're going to turn this tree lighting ALL THE FUCKING WAY UP tonight.
What bothers me most is I keep reading about those lamenting the people protesting the Wilson non-indictment, instead advocating more for cameras on the police themselves, but apparently being caught on tape doesn't change anything either. Not to say we can't and shouldn't have more cameras, but problems ain't just gonna stop, and those suffering from police brutality know it.
And I gotta say - http://www.nypdrecruit.com/faq/exam-employment I guess a lot of that is pretty vague (character check, psych exams) but I've never been convinced that we should let people who don't have college degrees be policemen. I am aware of all of the obvious economic issues with that statement, but they don't really seem to be adequate reasons for compromising our safety. If all it takes is a couple years in the military ... it ain't that hard to get into the military to begin with. Austin's for comparison - http://www.criminaljusticedegreeschools.com/criminal-justice-resources/police-departments-by-metro-area/austin-police-department-officer-requirements/
Sigh...So what we want to do about Bill Cosby?
When was the last time the public actually trusted the NYPD? It wouldn't really surprise me if it's been a long time.
So are we going to rename the Shawinigan Handshake the New York Public Trust Builder? I guess it doesn't have the same ring to it. Maybe the Staten Island Handshake? that sounds derivative, but much more catchy.
So basically anything and everything.Among the methods of force that police can use are clubbing with a nightstick, radio, gun, flashlight or other blunt object; hitting someone with a vehicle; dragging, pulling, shoving, throwing, beating, punching, kicking, slapping, fighting or biting a civilian.
