Have you ever really looked at what goes into Eggnog? We had a family recipe that involved like a dozen eggs and a bottle of rum. It was pretty good but about 1500 calories per glass. I've even given up on the store-bought stuff. Light eggnog has as many calories, oz for oz, as Jim Fucking Beam. Although mixing the two is delicious. Know what we do 'round here? Mulled wine. Buy a bottle of manieschewitz, throw it in a pot, and bring it not quite to a simmer with a cinnamon stick, a few allspice berries, a couple cloves and a dash of nutmeg. F'ing delicious. Gimme a minute, though. I've got cookbooks going back 130 years. Let me find my most outlandish eggnog recipe.
That's the stuff. Although the blackberry mulls better. By the bye: I spent the past 11 minutes looking through every cookbook I have. Amazingly, I have one recipe for eggnog, and it's from my bar book, and it doesn't involve booze. (I did find a rippin' recipe for aspic jelly) If it really matters, I can claw my dad's recipe free. I'll reiterate: eggnog ain't good for you.
I don't think the point is for it to be healthy. i think the point is to be delicious. your point is well-taken, however.
