I listened through all of Serial between a drive from Humboldt and the bay area last night and this morning. It's incredible. Every bit of my emotions have been hit throughout the entirety of it.

But the one thing that seemed totally clear to me from the first moment is that Jay is lying. Nonstop. He did not stop lying at any point. And adding on this and his reaction to Sarah doing the story at all and the refusal to clarify at any point is just so absolutely alarming. I have no idea what to think his part in this all is. But I want to sympathize with him and try to understand.

And you know what? He blew that apart in this. He changed his story entirely again for what's most convenient and beneficial to him. I can't can't believe a single thing he says at all. He's the only person I'm furious at in the entire narrative.

He lied constantly but the one fact is that he led the police to Hae's car. He's the only person with a clear connection to the case. I thought he did it throughout Serial until I figured he had little to no connection to her. The whole show left me uneasy about the courts. Adnan is the clearest suspect but there was practically zero evidence and the jurors they interviewed seemed to see their job as detectives instead of impartial peers.

And that seriously bothers me. He has some intense connection to it all, but what and 'it all' are a complete enigma to me.

But that's absolutely it. I don't know if Adnan did it. That's such a hard thing to be certain on, but I came to pretty much the same conclusion and you and Sarah did: he shouldn't have been convicted on what they had.

(I am a little more willing to believe he's not guilty, as well as be willing to admit that discrimination played a bigger role than she thought.)

Part 3 is online too, where he talks about people on Reddit finding his home.

I read that. That's unfortunate, but such par for the course for reddit. It's an absolutely dangerous shithole now.

Lots of Redditors see the journalistic investigations Koenig does and think they have the right to do the same - without the professional carefulness that she wields. It's nauseating.

Just don't set your expectations too high. Find reddits that you can form a community with people with shared interests. Be funny and clever and people will get your jokes. Overall though it's a trainwreck. Their model is basically anarchy with millions of page view a month as far as the subreddit system goes and the moderation system is godawful.

I really wanted to say how disappointed I was by that interview. I'm not sure what I expected since the guy was called a liar by multiple people, is a liar from what I heard from him and has had 15 years to work on the lies in the interview. When I was listening to the show though I had to remind myself that high school kids are naive so he probably did think he was tough shit and facing serious time for selling weed. He makes it out like he was running a major operation. Out of his grandmother's house. Without her knowing it.

Great series, not totally satisfying but that leaves you with larger questions since it has no answers and is reporting.

I think that ending was good, because it didn't try to make up some fake, neat and tidy ending that makes it feel complete when it's not, and there never will be full answers. Just enough that 'he should probably have been acquitted'. That's all that can be said, really.

Out of curiosity, are you the tacocat from photoshopbattles as well? I've been around reddit for nearly seven years, so I've... Seen a lot of shit there. If you are your namesake, then you are one of the bright points!

No, I'm the tacocat who picked his name here because of his kitten. I'm about eight users on reddit, none are tacocat
