The only thing annoying about shoegaze is that My Bloody Valentine effectively ended the genre almost 25 years ago with the release of Loveless. Every time I listen to a new shoegaze band, I think either: I wish they were noisier and more immersiv and/or I wish they wrote a song with a great melody and hook. And I inevitably go back to Loveless, which did both oh so great. I am also prepared to defend Loveless as the best album ever made. That's not to say it's a fight I'll win, but that's how strongly I feel about it.
Have you listened to ovlov? I think am will fit your criteria of being noisy and having great melodies. Some of the songs are more punk leaning and they are more Dinosaur Jr. influenced than anything but damn does that album rock. Close enough for me to consider it shoegaz-y. Check out Grapes, Where's my Dini?, and Moth Rock if you haven't heard this album before.
I have listened to Ovlov and am, quite a long time ago. I wasn't impressed, but I'll give them another shot.
It did take quite a few listens before I truly "got" Loveless. Their first album, Isn't Anything, is also a great listen. What don't you like about MBV? A Sunny Day in Glasgow's "Sea When Absent", is also a fantastic shoegaze album. I almost forgot about it, partially because it came out only last year.
