Researchers have found new evidence linking genetic factors associated with autism to better cognitive ability in people who do not have the condition.
To a point, poor social skills and a hyper-analytical mind is simply that, and needn't be considered to be undesirable. It makes me wonder if the increased awareness of autism spectrum disorders isn't in part due to an increased focus upon emotional intelligence and social inclusiveness. No doubt, the world is a better place because of individuals with this spectrum of genotypes.
Important to include. The genes themselves are helpful, autism is not.The team found that even among people who never develop autism, carrying genetic traits associated with the disorder is, on average, linked to scoring slightly better on cognitive tests.
