The USA took out a dictator that (for the most part) kept his country under his thumb. After being disposed, the extremist group "ISIS" quickly took hold in the power vacuum that was created. Should the USA fix the problem they started?
I don't know that we can, unless we are prepared to maintain a permanent presence in Iraq.
I agree with this...but if we establish the fact that we would need to stay there a LONG time, should the US just say "fuck it" and let the bloodbath continue? I'm not even sure there is a right answer.
Should we help? Probably, because we helped to cause the instability and because it would be in our interest to have a stable ally in the region. The only downside is that it would take a massive amount of resources and decades, if it's even possible to stabilize Iraq.
