I found it by accident last week and wound up spending about an hour exploring. I had never actually played Zork/any other text-based games, but it was a lot of fun. Kind of reminds me of D&D.

Doom and Zork were the first two games I'd every played (after my grandpa told me I was "too old" for Reader Rabbit) so this was a really cool find for me.

To your point: there's a good reason why it reminds you so much of D&D.

Outside the educational children's games, DOOM and Commander Keen were my first games.

Also, thanks for the link. Now that I've gotten into D&D, (specifically Pathfinder [not technically D&D, but close enough] and 5e) I can really see how it has influenced video gaming.

I've recently gotten back into D&D (because I my friend had an epic D&D campaign as his bach party, and it rekindled the habit), and I've been planning as a DM because no one I know where I live has ever played. What's been your experience with 5e as a newb?

I started with Pathfinder and it is the only other d20 system I've played.

Fifth edition is simple. At least compared to Pathfinder. Feats are less of thing, which makes character creation/advancement quicker than with PF. I've only played one session with the system, but combat takes less time and is easier in general. Somethings that I don't particularly like, but make sense are the usage of advantage and inspiration dice.

Overall, I like it.
