my family never watched tv news but we did listen to a lot of talk radio whether it was in the car or as background noise while my mom cooked. i read the newspaper a decent amount too. i don't exactly know when i formed my political leanings but i was leftist from as early as i can remember. i won an award in the 6th (?) grade for writing a paper arguing that LGBT issues were the next Brown v. Board (I have no idea where this essay is now but I would love to get my hands on it) and it surprised my parents that i had formed this opinion independently. so whatever my parents did seemed to work well in terms of me independently forming and educating my opinions. thank you for your feedback!
