Anything you'd ad to the list?
Every time I thought I had one, they'd bring it up, haha. Tree of Life is my favorite film, and I consider it the most beautiful I've ever seen.
But there are a couple more I could add.
They left off animation, and I think Akira or almost any Miyazaki film (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke) could be added. I recently watched Princess Kaguya and I'd definitely add that as well. The animation was stunning.
Other films I'd add include All That Heaven Allows, Her, Beau Travail, and La Haine.
I personally think Brazil is beautiful in it's drab monotonous ways. It's about bringing beauty into your drab, boring, and mostly oppressive world. The shots are incredible, especially in... let's just call it "the room" at the end. It was originally going to be titled "1984", but Terry Gilliam decided to change the name since he had taken too many liberties and changed the characters. Pan's Labyrinth comes to mind as well, despite being a darker beauty. I'll also second Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli, those movies are just plain stunning. They were even more stunning when they were released, but they still hold up today, which is amazing.
Oh man The Fall is so good. Beautiful in many ways.
Seriously! I cant think of anything to add because I was just introduced to a bunch of films I need to go watch now.
Right? Those two (The Fall and The Conformist) jumped out at me as well. I feel like I've heard of The Conformist but those shots made it something I have to see very soon. Also really made me realize that I need to finally sit down and watch the Qatsi trilogy as well as Samsara, Baraka, and Chronos.
