Just a thought: There were 326 challenges in 2011. That means the least challenged book of the 10 had less than 32 challenges, and probably much fewer. If you wanted to promote your book, couldn't you write a couple dozen challenges to libraries?
I think the Atlantic fucked that up. If you click through to the ALA site, they make it clear that there were 326 "reports regarding attempts to remove or restrict materials from school curricula and library bookshelves". Then it goes on to say that these were the book that were most challenged. I think that a challenge and "an attempt to remove" are different, although they don't define the latter.
