NVidia's Linux drivers are good for their high-end cards, and get buggier the further down you go, mostly because the Linux users they're really interested in supporting are doing visualization and scientific computing, not playing games. It's probably not a coincidence that AMD is doing this as Valve is looking to have a chance at making Linux a mainstream gaming platform.
