These kids have got to be outliers, right? 700 unanswered texts in a day? Responding to 40 snaps in under a minute? 150 views per story? I know I'm a bit older and not as in touch as I used to be, but GOD DAMN. I'm really glad I'm not a teen right now.
right? that sounds crazy. I know some pretty prolific snappers but I don't think they come anywhere near that many? unless they do...?
I certainly don't get anywhere near 150 views in a story. One thing that I thought about as I turned over this article more throughout the evening is that I do believe there is a difference in use of snapchat across genders. Of course, this is purely anecdotal, but I've observed I know a few men who love snapchat and many more men who are not accustomed to taking selfies and are in general not active on snapchat the way my female friends are. I really wonder if this difference is part of what might be impacting the author's experience as well - he seems to think he is familiar with snapchat and uses it regularly, but I think that's frankly almost a laughable assertion. He seems like a snapchat baby, a very casual user.
I agree. I really only have a handful of male friends on snapchat and only 1 of them would go all out -- filtered selfies and shit-- and it's bc he's a bit of a manwhore so he gets a lot of practice flirting via snapchat. The rest tend to send pics of the environment around them.
All I can think reading this is "god I'm glad I'm old". That said I don't think this child is representative of most teens, and I also think her parents should be limiting her use. She sounds addicted. I find myself wondering what she's NOT doing due to all her timing using this app.
